The Dictionary Project in Perú

Distribute 1,000 dictionaries to 1,000 3rd graders in public schools located in low socio-economic areas in 4 cities in Perú. Each area would distribute 250 dictionaries. A dictionary is an essential tool in the 3rd grade language arts curriculum.

Positive Change One Student At A Time

Giving a dictionary to each student strengthens literacy levels and facilitates instruction by teachers. Since students take their dictionary home, the dictionaries also help to improve literacy levels of family members.

Peru/USA Humanitarian Parternship

A representative of the RC Deerfield Beach travels to Perú to purchase and distribute dictionaries to clubs; collects the financial contributions of the Peruvian clubs; coordinates distribution logistics with clubs in Perú; and coordinates social media postings.

Donor Aknowledgement

Each dictionary has a label listing the financial contributors to the program on the back of the front cover and a label with the Four Way Test in Spanish on the back of the back cover. Each of the clubs issues a press release and posts in social media of the distribution.

Spreading Knowledge In Peru

The dictionary project in Perú is providing 1,000 dictionaries to 3rd grade students in four regions of Perú. The project is possible due to the collaboration and financial support of the following Rotary Clubs of: Deerfield Beach, Florida; Pittsburg, California; La Esperanza, Chaclacayo, Perú; Piura Norte, Perú; Rijchary, Arequipa, Perú; and Surquillo, Lima, Perú.
